Minimum: 50+ seeds

Bring the rich culinary heritage of Mexico and Central America straight to your garden with Organic Epazote (Dysphania ambrosioides)—a bold, aromatic heirloom herb treasured for centuries. Grown without synthetic chemicals or treatments, these organic seeds give you a clean, natural start and an authentic flavor profile that cannot be replicated with any other herb. Whether you’re a home cook, herbal enthusiast, or gardener searching for unique, culturally significant plants, organic epazote is a must-have addition to your growing collection.

🌿 Why Choose Organic Epazote?

Organic epazote stands apart with its pure, intense aroma—a sharp, resinous blend of mint, oregano, citrus, and wild herbs. It’s a foundational ingredient in countless traditional dishes and teas, especially in Mesoamerican cuisine. A single sprig has the power to transform:

  • Black beans, pinto beans & refried beans

  • Quesadillas, tamales & tortillas

  • Soups, stews & slow-simmered chiles

  • Herbal teas & folk wellness preparations

Cooks value epazote not only for its flavor, but also for its traditional use in reducing digestive discomfort associated with bean dishes. Its unmistakably bold profile is essential for achieving true, old-world authenticity in your recipes.

🌱 Easy, Vigorous & Organic Garden Growth

Epazote is naturally hardy, fast-growing, and incredibly forgiving—making it ideal for organic gardening. These certified organic seeds ensure healthier plants, cleaner soil, and a sustainable garden ecosystem. Epazote thrives with minimal care and often reseeds itself for year-after-year abundance.

  • Germination: 7–14 days

  • Plant Height: 2–4 ft

  • Light: Full sun

  • Soil: Well-draining, average to sandy

  • Water Needs: Low to moderate

  • Harvest: Begin picking tender young leaves once plants reach 8–10 in. tall

Because of its vigorous nature, epazote adapts wonderfully to raised beds, containers, herb gardens, and even untamed edges of the yard. Its strong scent also makes it a useful natural pest deterrent, fitting perfectly into organic growing systems.

🌼 Cultural, Culinary & Herbal Significance

Epazote is deeply rooted in Indigenous and traditional Mexican cuisine. Growing it organically honors those traditions by keeping the herb as close to its natural origins as possible. Use it to flavor beans, enrich sauces, and add complexity to your favorite cultural dishes. For herbalists, organically grown epazote is prized for teas and aromatic preparations that have been passed down for generations.

🍃 Organic & Versatile – Perfect for Any Growing Setup

Whether you're growing indoors, outdoors, or in hydroponics, organic epazote performs beautifully:

  • Outdoor garden beds & food forests

  • Containers, pots & balcony gardens

  • Indoor grow-light herb setups

  • Hydroponic & aquaponic systems

  • Greenhouses & high tunnels

Its drought tolerance and strong root system make it a low-maintenance staple for organic gardeners of all skill levels.

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
